CQC - Regulations - IV - Therapy -Woman- Nurse - IV

The CQC

It was announced this year that intravenous administration of vitamins or products that are prescription-only medicines (including 0.9% saline) is now a regulated activity and requires registration with the Care Quality Commission.

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. The organisation makes sure health and social care services provide people with safe and high-quality care.

The importance of being CQC regulated and what does this mean for you?

REVIV actively worked with the CQC to become registered, to adhere to these recent updates. Anyone that does provide intravenous administration services will need to register for the regulated activity if the procedures they offer:

are delivered by, or under the supervision of, a listed healthcare professional.

AND include administering prescription-only products intravenously OR products that require a prescription when delivered in intravenous form.

AND claim to alter a person’s physiological state in response to a defined concern.

The CQC does not consider this type of procedure to be alternative or complementary medicine.

When the CQC visits to carry out an inspection, they ask the same five questions.

  • Are they safe?
  • Are they effective?
  • Are they caring?
  • Are they responsive to people’s needs?
  • Are they well-led?

This knowledge should give our patients the reassurance they are in safe hands due to being regulated by an independent body.

REVIV’s Clinical Lead & Registered Manager, Cheryl Lomax, says: “We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality of care, all our clinical staff who provide IV therapies and booster shots are registered professionals who have undergone extensive training. REVIV have been striving for regulation with the CQC to instil the utmost confidence in our patients and I’m delighted to be able to ensure the high standards are maintained.”

In our first inspection in September 2021 REVIV is proud to have received a ‘Good’ rating – you can read the report here.

Before receiving any treatment REVIV patients will have a consultation with a medical practitioner.

More about IV Therapy

IV therapy is where vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fluids are introduced to the body through an IV. This is a medical technique that delivers directly into a person’s vein. Having vitamins through IV therapy or booster shots utilises much higher concentrations, safely, to allow us to get more uptake into the body and could be preferable over the oral supplements.

If you are presenting symptoms of deficiency, it might be recommended that you have a blood test.

Megaboost is REVIV’s most nutrient rich infusion for hydration and may support your immune function and overall health. It is made up of a high dose vitamin C, antioxidants, B complex vitamins and other essential nutrients.

Vitamin C helps to protect our cells and is a powerful antioxidant. By protecting our cells, it supports healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage and helps the body to heal. While B complex vitamins may improve energy and metabolic function.

While a Vitaglow contains a high dose of the body’s master antioxidant glutathione, which is delivered alongside vitamin C. This popular IV could support detoxification and promote cellular repair.

Glutathione offers protection from free radicals which cause oxidative damage, otherwise known as ageing of cells. Glutathione is present in skin, hair and nail cells.

While it’s perfect partner, vitamin C, helps to protect cells and supports healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage and helps the body to heal.
